If you have family in Iran, reaching them online has been nearly impossible.

That’s because the country’s government has restricted its citizens’ access to the internet through a web shutdown, blocking all but a handful of websites approved by those in Tehran since the end of February.

Now, nearly three months in, there are signs that Tehran’s internet blackout is putting its country’s finances in the red.
