From Global News.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, provided an update Monday on the four Canadians exposed to the deadly hantavirus outbreak on the Dutch MV Hondius cruise ship last month.
After arriving on Vancouver Island the night before, Henry confirmed the passengers, so far, have experienced “no symptoms” and that their “minimum” 21-day isolation period began Sunday — noting further that they will be monitored for the 42-day “known incubation period” of the Andes strain.
Henry confirmed of the four individuals, one is in their 50s and from B.C. — but living abroad — another in their 70s is also from B.C., and then a senior couple, both in their 70s, are from Yukon and isolating together.
They will receive daily monitoring by public health teams, including regular symptom checks, wellness assessments and clear guidance on what to do should their health status change, Henry said.
