King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be greeted by U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday as they arrive in Washington, D.C., for a four-day state visit framed around the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The visit comes at a time of strained trans-Atlantic ties, partly over disagreements between Trump and the U.K. government on issues including the Iran war.

Trump has praised King Charles but criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for not supporting military action in Iran.

The president and King Charles will participate in afternoon tea and take part in a beehive tour later on Monday.

Charles’ multi-day visit also includes a White House state dinner and a speech to Congress. The royal will also visit the Sept. 11 memorial in New York and attend a 250th birthday party in Virginia.
