Undocumented migrants in Spain begin a race against time to cobble together essential paperwork under the left-wing government’s new mass regularisation.
Around 500,000 people are expected to benefit from the scheme, mostly Latin Americans.
Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has long argued that the country needs migration to fill workforce gaps and counteract an ageing population that could imperil pensions and the welfare state.
