UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres warns of growing risks to the global economy, expressing alarm over tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for a large share of the world’s oil shipments. "I am deeply concerned about the curtailment of navigational rights and freedoms in the area of the Strait of Hormuz… strangling the global economy," he tells reporters at UN headquarters, as regional tensions in the Middle East continue to raise fears of disruptions to energy supplies and global trade.
