Alleged Gunman Shot by Secret Service Near National Mall in DC

A suspected armed gunman was shot by federal law enforcement near the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and taken into custody with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials. A teenaged bystander believed to be a tourist was also hit and grazed by the ricochet of a bullet, according to a federal official. Shortly before, Vice President JD Vance’s motorcade had just passed by the area where the gunfire erupted. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell reports for TODAY.
