A chess club started by a student is trying to provide Gaza City’s war-torn population with a safe and calm opportunity for people of all backgrounds to play each other. Club members say the activity helps to keep them mentally fresh for when they return to their jobs, as a fragile truce in the Palestinian territory continues to hold between Hamas and Israel.
