From AFP News Agency.
Police tried to disperse opposition protesters in the Albanian capital using water cannons and tear gas, as demonstrators seeking resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama hurled fireworks and Molotov cocktails at the government headquarters.
The protesters, led by former prime minister Sali Berisha, marched through the capital seeking Rama’s resignation over alleged corruption within the party.
In November 2025, deputy prime minister Belinda Balluku, a close associate of Rama, was suspended over a corruption scandal that is now under investigation.
Several former ministers in Rama’s governments have also been targeted by corruption investigations.
