It’s understandable the hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship is triggering unease and flashbacks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but doctors underscore there are big differences between the two diseases.

Hantavirus does not spread easily from person to person, while COVID-19 was a new and unknown virus when it emerged.

As Mike Armstrong explains, hantavirus has already been tracked and managed by doctors for decades.
