Across the state of Hawaii, major clean-up efforts are getting underway after the islands have been battered by weeks of downpours with some areas soaked with up to 3 inches of rain per hour. Thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate due to flash flooding including some locals who only had seconds to escape the rising waters. NBC’s Steve Patterson reports for TODAY.
