The Met Gala is known for its exclusive guest list and daring fashion, and this year’s event didn’t disappoint.

The theme of this year’s annual fundraiser was “Costume Art,” and the looks on this year’s red carpet definitely brought the drama.

The Met Gala, held annually on the first Monday in May, is a soiree to raise money for the Costume Institute, the museum’s collection of fashion objects. Each year is a different theme that honours a different designer, style or look.

This year, however, several well-known figures decided to skip the gala, including Zendaya, Meryl Streep, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who says the event is out of step with his priorities on affordability.
