OpenAI violated Canadians’ privacy, watchdogs say, call for updates to law | LIVE

From Global News.

The privacy commissioner of Canada and provincial privacy regulators from Alberta, Quebec and B.C. are set to hold a press conference to discuss the findings of the investigation into OpenAI’s ChatGPT on Wednesday.

Canada’s privacy commissioner launched the investigation over three years ago after claims that the artificial intelligence company was collecting, using, and disclosing personal information without consent.

OpenAI has received much scrutiny in Canada as they’re facing a lawsuit from the Tumbler Ridge shooting.
Victims’ families say the company failed to alert police after flagging the shooters’ disturbing ChatGPT conversations months prior.
