A former top foreign ministry official said there was "there was pressure to get everything done as quickly as possible", when it came to the appointment of Peter Mandelson, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s pick as the ambassador to the U.S. Mandelson was fired by Starmer last September after his relationship with the late U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was found to be deeper than previously known.
Britain’s parliament will vote on April 28 on a possible inquiry into Prime Minister Keir Starmer, looking at whether he misled the House of Commons over the appointment of Mandelson.
