Spanish authorities "have said that they will welcome" a cruise ship with suspected hantavirus cases onboard, says the World Health Organization. "The plan now is for the ship to continue on to the Canary Islands," says WHO director of epidemic and pandemic preparedness and prevention Maria Van Kerkhove, with the ship anchored off Cape Verde. Two hantavirus cases have been confirmed and five others are suspected among those onboard the ship. Three people have died, the WHO has said. SOUNDBITE
