From Global News.
In Istanbul, two police officers were injured after three assailants carrying long-barreled weapons opened fire at a police building near the Israeli consulate on Tuesday.
One attacker was killed in the ensuing gunfight, while the other two were injured and taken into custody. Officials say no Israeli diplomats are currently present in Turkey, as they were withdrawn due to security concerns after relations deteriorated during the war in Gaza.
Turkey’s interior minister linked the attackers to a group he described as one that "exploits religion" in a social media post, but didn’t explicitly name the group he believes responsible. He went on to say the attackers had traveled from a nearby city in a rented car.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack, calling it a "heinous" act of terrorism.
