James Comey indicted for threatening Trump in “86 47” online post

From Global News.

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche spoke at the Department of Justice Tuesday afternoon about the indictment of former FBI director James Comey. It marked the second time Comey has been indicted by President Trump’s Department of Justice.

He was charged with making threats to harm President Trump, stemming from an image he shared on Instagram in May 2025. The post showed seashells arranged in the sand to form the numbers "86 47."

The indictment states a "reasonable recipient who is familiar with the circumstances" would interpret the depiction of the shells in the photo "as a serious expression of an intent to do harm to President Trump."

Comey responded with a video message on Substack where he said, "Well, they’re back. This time about a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach a year ago. And this won’t be the end of it. But nothing has changed with me. I’m still innocent. I’m still not afraid, and I still believe in the independent federal judiciary, so let’s go."
