A humpback whale stranded for days in shallow waters of the Baltic Sea finally freed himself, but experts warned its survival is uncertain.

The whale was spotted on March 23 after getting stuck in shallow waters, prompting a multi‑day rescue effort. Overnight the whale freed himself, Lord Mayor Sven Partheil-Böhnke of the northern German town Timmendorfer Strand said.
