Senior military officials tell the New York Times that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth blocked the promotion of two female officers and two Black officers. The NYT also reports Hegseth’s chief of staff told the Army Secretary that President Trump would not want to stand next a Black female officer at military events, according to three current and former defense and administration officials familiar with the exchange.
