“The Frustration is Ottawa”: Danielle Smith talks Alberta separatism, MOU

From Global News.

As Alberta pushes to send more oil out of the province, separation talks are taking centre stage. And in this exclusive ‘The West Block’ interview, David Akin asks Premier Danielle Smith who’s taking charge.

Smith shares her belief Canada has ”one of the most decentralized federations in the entire world,” claiming that ideals from the country’s original constitution could be beneficial for all the provinces.

And though she said “the frustration is Ottawa” for many Albertans giving up hope on a future pipeline, Smith commended Prime Minister Mark Carney for collaborating with her – what she calls a “noticeable change” from the previous Liberal government.

Smith further praised Carney’s “genuine effort” to serve the country, noting his decision to drop the carbon tax and willingness to establish a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Alberta.
