FIFA President Gianni Infantino attempted to get Palestinian official Jibril Rajoub and Israeli official Basim Sheikh Suliman to shake hands during Thursday’s FIFA Congress in Vancouver. Rajoub refused, reportedly telling Infantino he couldn’t shake hands with ‘someone the Israelis have brought to whitewash their fascism and genocide.’ Tim Elcombe, a professor of kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University, discusses the stunt and Infantino’s push to brand FIFA as a uniting global force.
