Hantavirus outbreak: Update on Canadians in isolation after being evacuated from cruise ship | LIVE

From Global News.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, British Columbia’s Provincial Health Officer, is set to provide another update Monday on the four Canadians exposed to a deadly hantavirus outbreak on a luxury cruise ship over the last month.

The four passengers arrived home in B.C. on Sunday under strict protocols — including a minimum isolation period of 21 days.

Though Henry said in her most recent update that none of the passengers were showing symptoms of hantavirus, she warned that the Andes strain has an incubation period of up to six weeks.

Amid global panic of a potential pandemic similar to the one brought on by COVID-19 in 2020, Henry — and various health experts and officials — have reassured the public that the risk to communities remains low.
