From Adam Savage’s Tested.

There’s a misconception that movies shot with digital cameras and those shot with film cameras work in contrast with one another–that one process negates the other. But a movie shot digitally can be printed and projected on film, and a movie shot on film will likely at some point go through a scanning process for digital effects and editing. Adam Savage visited IMAX’s LA headquarters to meet the purpose-built equipment that scans and prints IMAX film.
