Moscow scales back Victory Day parade as Zelensky warns world leaders | BBC News

From BBC News.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned world leaders not to attend Russia’s Victory Day parade in Moscow, which marks the Soviet victory against Nazi Germany in World War II.

Russian leader Vladimir Putin will oversee the event on the Red Square, but this year the 9 May parade is being scaled back. For the first time in nearly two decades there will be no military hardware on Red Square.

The threat of Ukrainian drones over Red Square has been used to justify the paring back of this year’s parade.
