Jay Leno gets his hands on one of the rarest pickups in existence: MERCULES, a 1966 Mercury M250 slickside crew cab. With fewer than 10 of these Canadian beauties ever produced, this "unloved" survivor has been transformed into a 740HP off-road monster.
While Mercury trucks were never sold in the U.S., they are a hallowed piece of Canadian automotive history. This particular M250, owned by Roman Taijeron, was originally commissioned for the Manitoba Hydro Electric company in 1966. It spent decades working in the Canadian mud before Roman rescued it and partnered with Jason Noel of Fat Fender Garage to build a one-of-a-kind restomod.
Underneath the rough, "raddy-ass" orange patina lies a world-class performance machine. The truck sits on a completely custom FFG 4×4 chassis equipped with Currie F9 axles, a six-speed Tremec manual transmission, and Icon CDEV active suspension that can be tuned on the fly via a smartphone.
