British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is trying to reassert his leadership as he faces growing dissent within his governing Labour party.

70 Labour MPs are now calling for his resignation, and four government aides have also recently stepped down.

This after the party suffered its worst losses in decades during local and regional elections last week, ceding ground to the far-right Reform party and the U.K.’s Green party.

Acknowledging his doubters — in and out of Parliament — Starmer vowed to face challenges that could prove determinantal to his political future Monday.
