Meta and YouTube will have to pay millions in damages to a 20-year-old woman after a jury decided the social media and video streaming platforms designed their sites to hook young users without concern for their well being.
Meta, founded by Mark Zuckerberg, is the parent company of Instagram and Facebook.
The companies say they intend to appeal against the verdict, which could set a legal precedent and have far-reaching consequences.
