From Global News.
More young people are pushing back against the “addictive” aspects of AI chatbots, according to a new report from McGill University, which found that young Canadians want the federal government to step in.
Organizers held four consultations between November 2025 and March 2026, and 100 young people took part.
The report suggests tech companies should be required to “address the addictive design of AI chatbots" and it suggests several measures to tackle the problem, including content filters, optional data cache deletion and letting users determine the levels of responsiveness and conversionality.
Global’s Touria Izri asks young people what they think should be done.
