Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke of an openness to “deeper integration” with the United States at the 2026 Global Progress Action Summit in Toronto on Saturday.

“Canada remains open to deeper integration, including options for fortress North America in selected sectors. And to be clear, those offers are on the table. But if that route is not ultimately possible, we will invest heavily in new markets and products,” Carney said.

The prime minister’s words come as the deadline for a formal review of the Canada-United States-Mexico agreement is scheduled for July 1.
