Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, where cases of deadly hantavirus have been reported, is expected to arrive in the Canary Islands on Sunday, with 147 people still onboard. For four Canadians still on the ship, authorities offered no firm plan yet on how they will get home, suggesting perhaps by charter plane. Heidi Petracek reports on the plans to receive them.
Canada’s economy suffered an unexpected setback in April. Statistics Canada is reporting a loss of 18,000 jobs, sending the unemployment rate two ticks higher to 6.9 per cent.
