Mastering is a bit of a dark art in music production. It is the last step before a song is finished but what it involves and its importance is sometimes somewhat of a mystery. So today I want to explain what mastering actually is, whether you need it, and we are going to talk with a world-class mastering engineer, Adam Ayan, who has worked with artists such as Paul McCartney, Queen, Foo Fighters, Father John Misty, Lana Del Rey… the list goes on!
