Debate is growing over whether children should be banned from social media after Liberals voted to support a minimum age of 16.

The move comes as countries like Australia test similar restrictions, with mixed early results. Sharon Polsky, Privacy and Access Council of Canada president, says bans may be ineffective and raise privacy concerns.

In an interview with Global News, she says education and parental guidance may be more effective than outright restrictions.
