Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre signalled Sunday he’s in favour of the Ford government’s proposed expansion of Billy Bishop airport in Toronto. ,

Poilievre said he believes the expansion would be good for the economy, reduce traffic between downtown and Toronto Pearson International Airport, and improve air industry competition. 

"Also, Pearson is a disaster. Why is Pearson so bad, because there is no competition for many of its flights. By extending the runway, Pearson would have to fight for more air transportation traffic and perform better," Poilievre told reporters. 

The Ford government has introduced legislation to give the province the power to take control of the land in and around the island hub, but have yet to give a timeline for the project.
