For the second time in a year, Jimmy Kimmel is under fire by the Trump administration — this time for joking about First Lady Melania Trump having a “glow like an expectant widow,” during a “pretend roast” on an episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Backing his wife, U.S. President Donald Trump called for the TV host to be fired by ABC and parent company Walt Disney, after Melania dubbed Kimmel’s remarks as "corrosive" and a symptom of what she described as a political sickness in the U.S.

These responses from the Trumps come after the pair was rushed out of the annual White House Correspondent’s dinner on Saturday during an attempted shooting. The ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ episode in question aired on April 23, however — two days before the incident took place at the Washington Hilton.

In Kimmel’s latest broadcasted monologue, he clarified that his comments were misconstrued and not “a call to assassination,” but simply a “very light roast joke about the fact that he [Donald Trump] is almost 80, and she [Melania Trump] is younger than I am.”

Fans outside the El Capitan Theatre — where the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show is recorded — on Monday pushed back against the Trumps’ demands, with some suggesting they should be prioritizing things like ending the war with Iran and the U.S. economy.
