In Michigan, a suspect is dead after ramming a vehicle into a synagogue near Detroit on Thursday.

Police say 41-year-old Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Lebanon, was killed by security guards at the temple after engaging in gunfire.

Officials say Ghazali drove a vehicle through the doors and down a hallway. The vehicle caught fire and emergency responders found explosives in the vehicle.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Witmer remarked on Friday saying “This was a school. These were 0-5 year olds that were targeted yesterday — 104 (children)… this could have looked a lot more like Sandy Hook… This is targeting babies who were Jewish. This is antisemitism at its absolute worst.”
