When Hurricane Helene devastated the western North Carolina region, Jackie and Stewart lost just about everything – including their 7-year-old cat, Bootsy. The feline seemed to have vanished. Recently, they heard a "meow" outside their home, and were overjoyed to find that Bootsy had returned. The cat had been a stray, so she did have some street smarts. But she was mum on her whereabouts over the past year.
