Last week, severe coastal erosion caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi revealed the frame of an old wooden merchant shipwreck on Tan Thanh beach in Hội An. According to experts who took wood samples to run carbon dating on, the ship is believed to be from the 14th to 16th century.

"This shipwreck is heritage, a thing from the past that has transcended time to come to the local people here, so we need to learn about it and preserve it," said Tran Anh Phuong, a local resident.
