Pope Leo XIV met with Hollywood stars, including Cate Blanchett, Viggo Mortensen and Monica Bellucci, in a first-of-its-kind gathering at the Vatican on Saturday. The gathering was both a show of support for the global film industry and a way for the Catholic Church to engage more broadly. In a speech, the Pope urged the group to continue as “pilgrims of the imagination” who can bring hope, and also warned of a “troubling decline” in cinema attendance.
