Reda and Hamed Aliwa are raising all 36 of their grandchildren in Gaza City after their five children were killed in separate Israeli airstrikes that struck the tents they were sheltering in last September.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics calls the situation "the largest orphan crisis in modern history," with close to 40,000 children orphaned since the Israel-Hamas war began.
