Faced with a government shutdown and a temporary halt of SNAP benefits, food banks have blown their budgets and depleted their inventory this year.

Heading into the holiday season, PBS News spoke with organizations across the country about how they’re meeting demand for food assistance and supporting the nearly 42 million people who are food insecure.
