“Couldn’t reach him”: Ukrainians search for missing after 25 killed in Russian attacks

From Global News.

At least 25 people were killed in a Russian drone and missile attack overnight that hit apartment buildings in the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil. Drones also struck Kharkiv, injuring 32 people, Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday.

About 80 others were wounded as Russia fired 48 missiles and 476 drones, striking energy and transport infrastructure and forcing emergency power cuts in several regions in frigid temperatures.

"My son is still in the apartment on the ninth floor. I talked to him before the explosions. That’s it. He said ‘Mom, everything will be fine. Don’t worry.’ After this, I tried calling and couldn’t reach him. I know nothing," the mother of a man remaining in a destroyed apartment block in Ternopil said.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was due to hold talks in Turkey in efforts to revive peace negotiations with Russia, confirmed multi-story residential buildings had been hit in Ternopil, and said others may be trapped under the rubble.
