A fatal fire in Brampton, Ont. claimed the lives of two people and injured at least four early Thursday morning.

Police say at least 11 people were living in the home, with 9 from a multi-generational family, while two people lived in the basement unit.

Brampton Fire Chief Andy Glynn said the fire broke out at a home on Banas Way at around 2:30 a.m., adding that investigators and excavators were working "to slowly dismantle this unit to look for any individuals that still might be inside."
