Man who set Chicago woman on fire on subway train charged with terrorism

From Global News.

A 26-year-old woman is in critical condition after being doused in gasoline and set on fire while riding a Chicago L-train Monday evening.

The victim was looking at her phone, “minding her business,” at roughly 9:25 p.m. when approached by suspect Lawrence Reed, 50, who reportedly “began throwing gasoline on her,” U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutrous told reporters. He added that any reports of an "altercation" was inaccurate and false.

The Chicago U.S. Attorney’s office charged Reed – who has a known extensive criminal record – with a federal terrorism charge on Wednesday. And according to Boutrous, if the victim succumbs to her injuries, it will become a death-eligible case.
