California Governor Gavin Newsom celebrated a massive win for Democrats Tuesday, after voters approved a plan to redraw the state’s congressional map – a victory that could completely reshape the U.S. House of Representatives.

Prior to the vote, U.S. President Donald Trump called the California proposal “unconstitutional” and suggested the entire vote was rigged, claiming all mail-in ballots were under “serious legal and criminal review.”

Newsom condemned Trump’s recklessness, claiming that the president – who he referred to as a “historically unpopular”– simply “does not believe in fair and free elections.”

Newsom called on other states to take similar action, saying, “Let me make this crystal clear. We can de facto end Donald Trump’s presidency as we know it.”
