President Donald Trump signed legislation on Nov. 12 to end the 43-day federal government shutdown, the longest in the nation’s history.

The previous record of 35 days was set during Trump’s first term in 2019. The House of Representatives voted 222-209 earlier in the evening on a funding package to reopen the government through Jan. 30.
