Canada announces more than $3B investment in military infrastructure in Atlantic Canada | FULL

From Global News.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced a more than $3-billion investment in new and modernized military infrastructure across Atlantic Canada on Thursday, including cash injections aimed at modernizing CFB Dockyard and Satakunta in Halifax, N.S.

Carney said the federal government would invest $640 million to build a hangar and drone infrastructure that can support “multi-mission aircraft.”

He said the government would put $180 million toward a new training centre for the Royal Canadian Navy’s new River-class destroyers and spend $80 million to acquire Halifax Gate, a waterfront industrial site that will support Navy operations.

The spending package announced Thursday comes as NATO confirms that Canada has met key spending target – bringing Canada’s defence spending to roughly two per cent for the first time since the end Cold War.
