Last Sunday’s fatal Air Canada crash at LaGuardia has turned attention to safety protocols and workloads for air traffic controllers at YVR – Vancouver International Airport.

And on Wednesday, NAV Canada said it was short an estimated 200 air traffic controllers.

Though NAV Canada has processes in place to mitigate risk, pilots allege the protocols aren’t always followed in practice.
