From Global News.
Ahead of Tuesday’s federal budget release, Canada’s Revenue Minister François-Philippe Champagne continued the longstanding Canadian tradition of buying a new pair of shoes ahead of the budget release.
In a 2025 twist however, Champagne was at Boulet Boots in Saint-Tite, Quebec, on Monday where he rolled up his sleeves and helped workers put together a pair of shoes to demonstrate that they were made in Canada.
Champagne said it’s “going to be an investment budget.”
He added that Canada will be “Moving from reliance to resilience, from uncertainty to prosperity. We’re going to do the kind of things that make this country stronger and everyone will see themselves in that budget.”
“I would expect the opposition parties to be supportive because there is something for every Canadian in that budget. This is a budget that talks to everyday Canadians.”
