“They refuse to answer”: Toronto city official calls for public inquiry into delays of Eglinton LRT

From Global News.

Toronto City Councillor Josh Matlow held a press conference on Tuesday morning, where he asked for a public inquiry into the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which has been under construction for nearly 16 years without a completion date.

“Every time that you, the media, along with members of (city) council and the public, have asked Metrolinx basic questions about ‘What’s wrong? What problems have you had?’ they refuse to answer. They say, ‘Give us some space.’ They make announcements that they’re not going to give announcements,” Matlow said.

The Eglinton LRT has finished one of its final testing phases and is on its way to opening, although the government still hasn’t confirmed an official date.
