From Global News.
With less than 3 months to go until the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Vancouver still has no public plan to deal with a large population of unhoused people in the city.
Required under a FIFA agreement, host cities must have a two-kilometre “beautification zone” around their venues. At Vancouver’s BC Place, that radius is where a portion of the city’s unhoused population roams – and some are not willing to move.
In Seattle, however, the mayor is launching an emergency housing initiative to tackle this problem.
Global’s Kristen Robinson reports.
