Videos of body transformations have racked up millions of views on pages that promote weight-loss methods and products on social media since December 2025. But many of them use artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate real footage of ordinary people, altering their appearance to persuade consumers to spend money on methods that are incapable of delivering the results in the fake clips. A specialist in online disinformation told AFP that the content is part of a growing trend of scams that use AI to sell unrealistic outcomes.
